St. Thomas School A Brief

          St. Thomas Matriculation Higher Secondary School is run by the Tuticorin Diocesan Association (Registered), an organization of the Catholic Diocese of Tuticorin . The Bishop, the Most Reverend Dr. YvonAmbroise, who is the President of the Association, is also the Patron and Manager of the School.

         The Catholic Diocese of Tuticorin, besides taking care of the pastoral need of the three and a half lakh Catholic faithful, has also involved itself in the service of the socio-economic development of the people of Tuticorin district irrespective of religion or caste. The diocese has been running hospitals, homes for the aged and the under privileged, training centres for women and the marginalized and other such institutions. Education being an important instrument for social change, the diocese also runs more than 250 educational institutions. St. Thomas Matriculation Hr. Sec. School is one of the self-financed schools of the diocese.

        With a view to provide an excellent human formation in English medium, the school was founded by the former Bishop, The Most Reverend Dr. Ambrose on 12th July 1972. In 1982 it was raised to the Higher Secondary level. From 1979 onwards a feeder school at Thermal Nagar has also been functioning with the assistance and support of the Thermal authorities. Since the demand for the school admission has been increasing year by year, we have started a new school in State bank Colony in the year 2016 to enrich and blossom new buds. It has standards from JKG to VIII. And now 1305 students are on roll.
